About this spot

The terminus of the Toyama Chihou Railway (富山地方鉄道) main line, and the gateway to a trip through Kurobe Gorge (黒部峡谷). In front of the station, the ever-flowing hot-spring fountain greets visitors, letting you feel right away that you've arrived in a hot-spring town. The surrounding hot-spring town spreads out with souvenir shops and foot baths dotted about, making it perfect for a morning stroll too. Unazuki Station (宇奈月駅) on the Kurobe Gorge Railway, where the trolley train departs, is just a short walk away, so you can take your time with photos.

Tips

The trolley train's departure time is the anchor for the day's plan. It's reassuring to check the tourist information center near the station for the status of the gorge promenade and the trolley train's operating information before setting off.

Best time to visit

About 30 minutes. Early in the morning, the area in front of the station is emptier and easier to photograph.
