About this spot
A museum dedicated to Fukui's history, adjacent to Yōkōkan Garden. Featuring exhibits rich with Matsudaira family artifacts and displays about castle town life, it brings three-dimensional depth to Fukui Castle Ruins and Yōkōkan Garden you explored earlier. The grounds also feature the restored "Toneromon Gate" (舎人門) from the Edo period, adding outdoor exhibits to enjoy. An ideal refined stop to cool off, gain knowledge, and supplement your understanding during your downtown walk.
Tips
Right next to Yōkōkan Garden with virtually no travel time. The permanent exhibits can be seen in about 1 hour. A combination ticket with Yōkōkan Garden offers better value. The museum has benches—a good place to rest weary feet.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Spending the hot afternoon hours indoors viewing exhibits is comfortable.
