Create Your Own Original Washi Paper Through Hands-On Papermaking
About this spot
An experience facility in the Goka district, Echizen's 1,500-year-old washi papermaking region. Visitors can easily try authentic papermaking using a sieve frame called a suketa, and create original washi decorated with pressed flowers and dyes with their own hands. The completed paper is dried on-site, so you can take it home the same day. The gift shop displays colorful washi accessories, making souvenir shopping enjoyable too.
Tips
Papermaking experience is available without reservation, but you may wait if a group arrives—early morning is your best bet. The facility is barrier-free and stroller-accessible. Free parking available. The experience takes 20–30 minutes and is enjoyable for small children with adult supervision.
Best time to visit
