Experience the World of Echizen Crab with Marine Tunnel and Fishing Theater
About this spot
A one-of-a-kind experiential museum dedicated to everything about Echizen crab—winter's finest delicacy—in Japan's premier crab fishing region. The towering ocean diorama recreates the deep-sea world where crabs inhabit, following natural depth gradients, and walking through feels like descending into the sea itself. A theater where you can experience piloting a fishing boat and aquariums with swimming Japan Sea fish are packed with attractions that captivate children. The museum is wonderful for families because it offers full entertainment even on rainy days.
Tips
Located adjacent to Michi-no-Eki Echizen with free large-scale parking available. Baby strollers are permitted inside. During winter crab season, the entire area gets crowded; early morning hours are best for a relaxed visit. General admission is around 500 yen for adults, with discounted rates for children.
