Morning Stroll Through Craft Shops and Curiosity Shops Scattered in the Forest
About this spot
Just a short walk from Kiyosato Station, this small highland village features craft shops, restaurants, and hotels nestled throughout the forest. Admission is free, and you can stroll along shaded forest paths, browse shops selling music boxes and wooden crafts, and enjoy native gardens designed to work with the natural terrain. A carousel set among the trees is hugely popular with children and makes for excellent photos. With a long history intertwined with Kiyosato's pioneering past, the village also features a famous restaurant—this is a spot perfect for a leisurely morning walk.
Tips
Many paths in the village are unpaved, so comfortable walking shoes plus a baby carrier are safer than a stroller. Free parking is available, and the village is within walking distance of Kiyosato Station. Many shops open around 10 a.m., so starting with the gardens and forest walk is recommended. Restrooms are available throughout the village.
Best time to visit
