Enjoy approximately 7 minutes of aerial sightseeing from Kuonji Station, with views of the Fuji River valley below as you reach the summit
About this spot
The ropeway connects Kuonji Station at the back of the temple grounds with the Okunoin Station at the Mt. Minobu summit, with an elevation gain of approximately 760 meters. What would take several hours to walk via the approach is conquered in about 7 minutes—a true aerial pilgrimage route. From the gondola windows, the Fuji River valley and surrounding mountains of Minobu spread out below, and the sense of exhilaration as your view opens wider with each ascent is exceptional. On clear days, Mt. Fuji may even be visible from the cabin.
Tips
Round-trip tickets cost approximately 1,500 yen for adults. Service runs at roughly 20-minute intervals, with supplementary shuttles operating during peak periods. It's cooler at the summit than at the base, so bring a light jacket. Service may be suspended due to high winds or other weather, so it's wise to check the day's operating status beforehand.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 30 minutes. Morning air is clearest with the best cabin views.
