The headquarters factory of Kikyodo, known for the famous Yamanashi sweet Kintoki Shingan Mochi, has been converted into an entire theme park you can tour. From the viewing corridor, you can watch skilled craftsmen deftly wrapping mochi in cloth through glass—both adults and children find themselves captivated. The grounds feature an outlet and shop where you can find sweets at great prices, perfect for souvenir hunting. You can also enjoy exclusive treats like the famous Shingan Mochi soft-serve ice cream.
Tips
Admission and factory tours are free, and the facility is mostly indoors, so it's safe even on rainy days. Factory production may stop depending on time and day, so morning visits are recommended. The popular candy grab-and-fill booth often sells out by early afternoon, so it's best to enjoy shopping at the outlet instead. Free parking available.
