Located within Ueda Castle Ruins Park, this museum conveys the history and culture of Ueda. Armor, weapons, and ancient documents related to successive Ueda Castle lords are on display, and as they overlap with the landscape you've walked through since morning, understanding deepens. You can learn about Ueda's development as a castle town and as a post-station on the Hokuriku Highway, as well as its history as a sericulture center once called the "capital of cocoons"—perfect preparation for your afternoon walk through Yanagimachi. The compact museum allows families with children to view everything while concentration lasts.

Tips

Using a combination ticket with turret viewing at Ueda Castle offers good value. The air-conditioned interior is recommended as a rest break before fatigue sets in. Note the museum's closed days (Mondays and days after holidays, etc.) when planning your visit.
