World's Largest Freshwater Fish Aquarium – A Journey from the Nagara River to the World's Great Rivers

About this spot

Japan's largest-class freshwater fish aquarium where you can encounter aquatic life from rivers and lakes. Your tour begins on the upper floor and descends through exhibits that follow the Nagara River from its mountain source through the middle and lower reaches to the river mouth, revealing the vibrant life of familiar river creatures. In the second half, you'll reach zones featuring the Mekong River, Amazon River, and other major rivers of the world. The sight of giant fish exceeding 2 meters in length, such as arapaima and Mekong giant catfish, crossing the massive water tank is spectacular enough to elicit gasps from adults.

Tips

Located in the same park as Oasis Park and just a short walk from the parking lot. The facility is fully equipped with elevators and easily navigable with a stroller. Being entirely indoors, it's an excellent option for rainy-day plans. Closing times vary by day, so plan to enter with time to spare before closing. The gift shop's river creature merchandise is also popular.

Best time to visit

Plan for approximately 2 hours. In the afternoon, tour groups are fewer, allowing you to spend time in front of the large tanks at a leisurely pace.
