Leisurely Walk Through a Manor House with Thatched Roof and Gardens with Seasonal Flowers

About this spot

A verdant memorial park that preserves and opens to the public the former villa of Prince and Princess Chichibu-no-Miya. Deep within the park stands a charming thatched-roof main house that has remained from the Edo period; its interior exhibits evoke the lifestyle of that era. The gardens are planted with seasonal flowers throughout the year, making it a delightful place to stroll—from the graceful weeping cherries in spring onwards. The serene view of Mt. Fuji glimpsed through the trees offers a peaceful respite between the lively safari and outlet experiences.

Tips

Admission is a reasonable 300 yen for adults, and there is free parking. The park paths are primarily gravel and dirt, so baby carriers may be easier to use than strollers in some areas. Check the park calendar in advance as there are closure days. You can comfortably explore the entire park in about an hour.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes required. The dappled sunlight in the late afternoon makes for particularly pleasant garden walking.
