Eat and walk with freshly grilled seafood and signature soy milk at "Osaka's Kitchen"

About this spot

A historic market dating back to the Edo period with an approximately 580-meter arcade housing around 150 shops including fishmongers, produce vendors, and prepared food stalls—truly "Osaka's Kitchen." While professional chefs visit to source ingredients, in recent years it has become hugely popular as a food-hopping spot where you can enjoy freshly grilled seafood, melt-in-your-mouth tuna, and the signature soy milk drink on the spot. From scallop and sea urchin beachside grilling to wagyu skewers and freshly squeezed juice, the temptations never end. Walking with friends sharing various items is guaranteed to set a festive tone from morning. The lively hawking voices and bustling energy are distinctive pleasures of the market, making it the perfect opening to a food-filled day.

Tips

Just outside Exit 10 of Nihonbashi Station (日本橋駅) on the Sakaisuji and Sennichimae subway lines. Most shops have eating spaces at the front or inside rather than for walking-while-eating, so please enjoy respectfully. Many shops are still cash-only, so bring small change. Late morning around 9:30–11 a.m. has the best selection and energy; note that some shops close on Sundays.

Best time to visit

Allow approximately 1.5 hours. Mid-morning around 9:30–11 a.m. is best when shops are open and bustling.
