Shop for Ohara Souvenirs at the Farm Stand with Morning-Picked Vegetables and Homemade Products

About this spot

A farmers' market direct-sale shop where vegetables grown by local Ohara farmers and homemade processed goods are sold—beloved as the neighborhood's kitchen. The shelves overflow with seasonal Kyoto vegetables, flowers, homemade mochi balls (ohagi), and local specialties like red shiso juice and pickles. Every Sunday morning, a 'Friendly Morning Market' is held, bustling with both locals and tourists from early dawn. All products are made with visible producer names and rustic flavors, making the time spent choosing together with children ('Which one shall we pick?') enjoyable in itself. You can stock up on dinner ingredients and souvenirs, making this the perfect final stop to conclude the family's three-generation mountain village stroll.

Tips

About a 15-minute walk from Jakkoji toward the Ohara bus stop direction, located near the national highway with free parking available. If using the bus, the 'Nomura Wakare' Kyoto Bus stop is nearest. Popular items like ohagi and fresh morning-picked vegetables sell out quickly, so buy favorite items as soon as you spot them. An eco-bag and cooler bag are recommended.

Best time to visit

Plan for about 1 hour. Product selection is most abundant in the morning; Sunday mornings also offer the fun of the friendly early market.
