Begin your journey at the drinking spring and foot bath in front of the station, then leisurely stroll through the wooden hot spring town

About this spot

The gateway to Kinosaki Onsen, where the Limited Express Kounotori (こうのとり) from Osaka and Limited Express Kinosaki (きのさき) from Kyoto arrive. The hot spring town is just steps away from the ticket gate. In front of the station, visitors are greeted by a drinking spring where you can taste Kinosaki's renowned hot spring waters, and a free foot bath for everyone to use. The Kinosaki way to begin your journey is to first soak your feet in the foot bath and warm yourself up before heading out. The Japanese-style, serene station building blends beautifully with the surrounding hot spring town, and the area is lined with shops selling yukata accessories, bath baskets, and local seafood souvenirs. Many couples rent yukata at the station and enjoy strolling through town, naturally switching into vacation mode. From here, your leisurely walk as a couple begins through the hot spring town lined with three-story wooden inns.

Tips

Direct access without transfers from Osaka via Limited Express Kounotori and from Kyoto via Limited Express Kinosaki. The water at the drinking spring is hot, so drink small amounts—a small cup is convenient. Don't forget a hand towel for the foot bath. If driving, park in lots around the station or in the hot spring town, then explore on foot afterward—this is recommended.

Best time to visit

Approximately 30 minutes. It's most pleasant to prepare for your trip at the drinking spring and foot bath immediately after arriving in the morning, then set out for your stroll.
