Enjoy a Spectacular View of the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge and Awaji Island from the Sandy Beach to Wrap Up the Day

About this spot

One of the best spots to see the Akashi Kaikyo Bridge up close—a waterfront park with stretches of sandy beach and lawn. The world's largest class suspension bridge, spanning about 3,911 meters, arches dramatically across the strait right before your eyes, with Awaji Island stretching leisurely on the opposite shore. The blue strait during the day is refreshing, but the true highlight comes at dusk. The bridge's silhouette glows against the madder-red sky, and as the sun sets, the bridge's lights shimmer on the water's surface. Along the coast are walking paths, benches, and barbecue facilities, perfect for sitting by the waves, reflecting on the day's food-hopping adventure, and sharing conversations. A spectacular view worthy of a grand finale to your food-loving stroll through the towns of time and fish.

Tips

Directly connected by a pedestrian bridge from JR Asagiri Station, about 5 minutes walk (one JR stop from Akashi Station). It can get cool with sea breezes in the evening, so a light layer is reassuring. If sitting on the beach to enjoy the view, bring a picnic mat. After sunset, the bridge's lights remain on, so allow plenty of time to stay.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes. Timing your visit for around sunset is ideal
