A municipal museum in Takarazuka dedicated to the achievements of Osamu Tezuka, the 'God of Manga,' who spent his youth from ages 5 to 24 in the city. Since its opening in 1994, it has been a pilgrimage site for fans from around the world. At the entrance, a Phoenix monument welcomes visitors. The permanent exhibition traces the creative origins of Astro Boy (Tetsuwan Atom) and Black Jack through original manuscripts and cherished belongings. The special exhibitions, which change several times per year, attract repeat visitors with their impressive content. A library where you can freely browse Tezuka's works and an 'Animation Studio' where you can experience simple anime production offer so much that adults can easily lose track of time until closing. The anecdote of young Tezuka frequenting Takarazuka Revue performances becomes all the more poignant experienced while touring this town.

Tips

At the eastern end of Hana-no-Michi, just beyond the Takarazuka Grand Theater. Admission is 700 yen per adult; note that the museum is closed Wednesdays (though it may open during holidays or summer/spring breaks—check the calendar beforehand). The Animation Studio experience can have wait times during crowded periods, so it's recommended to complete registration immediately upon entering. Limited-edition merchandise at the museum shop is popular as a souvenir.
