Grand Panorama of Small Islands and Pearl-Farming Rafts Floating in Ago Bay. Photography at Dawn in the Morning Light
About this spot
A signature scenic spot representing Ise-Shima National Park, where approximately 60 small islands floating in Ago Bay and pearl-farming rafts weaving the rias coastline can be viewed from a high elevation of about 140 meters. A wooden observation deck called "Sky Café Terrace" has been built to jut out toward the sea, allowing you to enjoy the grand panorama with a drink in hand. Every vantage point offers a photogenic landscape, making it an irresistible place for photography enthusiasts. Walking trails extend throughout the surrounding area, letting you stroll and photograph the various facets of Ago Bay from different perspectives. In the crisp morning air, the island shadows stand out sharply, presenting a view worthy of starting your day.
Tips
A car is convenient since it takes about 40 minutes on foot from Shimayokoyama Station on the Kintetsu Shima Line. A paved road leads near the observation deck with free parking available, though the road becomes narrow and parking is limited, so an early arrival is recommended on weekends. The path from the parking lot to the deck is fitted with a slope and easy to walk, and it's recommended to purchase a drink at the adjacent café and enjoy it with the view.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour needed. Early morning when the air is clear is best for photography, with island shadows appearing distinctly.
