Marvel at Trick Doors in the Ninja Residence and Witness a Thrilling Ninja Martial Arts Show
About this spot
A hands-on museum representing Iga, the land of ninja. As you tour the ninja residence guided by a female ninja (kunoichi), trick doors, hidden passages, and secret mechanisms are demonstrated right before your eyes, leaving children wide-eyed and amazed. The adjacent Ninjutsu Experience Hall and Ninja Heritage Hall showcase authentic ninja tools like shuriken and water spiders, and teach ninja wisdom and lifestyle in an easy-to-understand manner. The highlight is an impressive ninja martial arts show using real weapons (separate fee required). The breathtaking sword choreography and shuriken demonstrations captivate even adults with their authenticity. The shuriken-throwing experience (separate fee) is also popular, and the halls are full of children in ninja costumes—truly a dream destination for ninja enthusiasts. Your family's day is guaranteed to reach its climax here.
Tips
Located in Ueno Park, about 10 minutes on foot from Ueno-Shi Station. The ninja show and shuriken-throwing experience require separate fees payable in cash, so prepare coins. Show times are fixed, so check the schedule upon entry and plan your route combining the residence tour with the show. Weekends and holidays are crowded, so early arrival is advisable. The residence has steps and dark areas; strollers must be checked in before viewing.
Best time to visit
Approximately 2 hours. Arriving early in the morning allows you to time the ninja show conveniently and avoid weekend crowds.
