Next stop: Snack Break at a Park Near Zelkova-Lined Avenue—the Perfect End to Your DayAbout this spot
A free, open-to-the-public observation terrace on the 31st floor of "AER," a 145-meter-tall complex building directly in front of Sendai Station. From the two east- and west-facing terraces, you can take in expansive views of Sendai's tree-lined streets, vistas toward the Pacific Ocean, and on clear days, distant mountain ranges—truly experiencing what it means to call Sendai the "Forest City" with its abundance of greenery. The indoor, glass-enclosed design means you can enjoy the views regardless of weather, and it's safe for small children. Spotting the shinkansen and trains running below and exclaiming together with your child is a unique joy of this spot. The direct underground passageway and pedestrian deck connection from Sendai Station makes access excellent, and it's a perfect, hassle-free final stop for sightseeing near the station.
Tips
About a 2-minute walk from Sendai Station's West Exit via the pedestrian deck. Take the elevator directly to the 31st floor from the 1st floor; strollers present no problem. Admission is free. To minimize reflections when photographing, bring the lens close to the glass for sharp images of the cityscape.
Best time to visit
Plan for 30 to 45 minutes. Afternoon hours with clear air offer excellent visibility of distant mountains.
