Dutch windmill and 111-meter roller slide mark the perfect end to the day

About this spot

A park sprawling along the banks of Naganuma, one of Miyagi Prefecture's most expansive marshes, with a 21-meter-tall Dutch windmill standing on a hilltop as its symbol. The 111-meter-long roller slide along the grassy slope ranks among the most impressive in the Tohoku region, drawing delighted shouts from both children and adults returning to their playful nature. Featuring expansive lawns, athletic play equipment, and a campground, visitors can spend time freely while caressed by the lakeside breeze. From the hilltop, the vast view encompasses Naganuma and the surrounding countryside; at dusk, the water surface transforms into beautiful shades of red. After a full day of underground exploration, railways, and waterfowl marshes, it's the perfect finale where three generations can move together, laugh together, and create lasting memories.

Tips

Approximately 15 minutes by car from Izu Marsh Agricultural Products, with ample free parking. Mats for the roller slide make for greater comfort, and sled rentals are available on-site. After sliding, visitors must climb back up the hill, so wear comfortable clothing and bring water. It can cool down in the evening, so bring a jacket for comfort.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes required. Arriving around 3 p.m. to enjoy the grass and slide, then stay to witness the windmill bathed in evening light is recommended.
