The gateway station to Yurihonjo City where JR Ugō-Etsu Line and Yuri Kogen Railway's Chōkai Sanroku Line converge. The elevated station building, designed to showcase the warmth of wood, is connected by an east-west free passage—perfect for commemorative photos marking the start of your journey. The Chōkai Sanroku Line departing from here is a local railway with 12 stations connecting Ugo-Honjo and Yashima (approximately 23 km) in about 40 minutes. The train window views, with Mount Chōkai visible beyond the farmland, are exceptional. Featuring diverse specialty trains including the "Heartfelt Train" staffed by attendants in traditional Akita clothing on weekends, and the "Toy Train Nakayoshi Koyoshi" filled with wooden toys inside, there are many attractions.
