It houses the renowned "Yoshino Sekigypso Collection" of French modern paintings featuring works by Monet, Renoir, Chagall, and Picasso, as well as the "Hasegawa Collection" of Japanese art including Osa Bunson's masterpiece "Oku no Hosomichi Folding Screens" (National Important Cultural Property). The museum is known for collections of surprising quality for a regional city.
