Leisurely stroll along the shore of Lake Inawashiro with a view of Mount Bandai with three generations
About this spot
A scenic beach stretching along the northeast shore of Lake Inawashiro, offering an unobstructed view of Mount Bandai across the water. Located conveniently along National Route 49 with rest facilities like Lakeside Bankōmitsu and parking areas, making it easy to stop by during a drive. On clear mornings, the lake surface mirrors Mount Bandai like a mirror, presenting a spectacular view that justifies Lake Inawashiro's name "Tenkyo Lake" (Heaven's Mirror Lake). The sandy beach is gentle and easy to walk on, allowing children to play in the shallows while grandparents relax on benches with a view of the lake—each generation can enjoy at its own pace. The lake is also known as a winter and spring haven for migrating white swans, offering a different scenery each season. Begin your journey by breathing in the fresh air of the lakeside.
Tips
About 10 minutes by car from Inawashiro-Bandai Kogen IC on the Banetsu Expressway, with free parking along National Route 49. The beach has little shade, so a hat is recommended. The lakeside is breezy and cooler than the town area; bringing a light layer is comfortable in the morning. Shops and restrooms are available at the adjacent rest facility.
Best time to visit
Approximately 45 minutes. Early morning is recommended when the air is crisp and the lake surface is calm. Mount Bandai is more likely to be clearly visible in the morning.
