A bridge spanning Tsubakuro Valley, one of the Eight Views of Azuma, located near the Takayugonsen entrance to the Bandai-Azuma Skyline. The valley drops approximately 80 meters from bridge level to its floor. The bridge takes its name from the Japanese swallows (iwatsubame) that dart across its span. From the bridge, you can see the Fukushima city streets and Fukushima Basin; on clear days, even the distant mountain range of Zao. As you begin ascending the Skyline, this bridge is where your vista suddenly opens up—a fitting start to a spectacular drive. Parking is available at the bridge approach, and you can slowly walk across the pedestrian path while savoring the impressive sense of height. During fresh green and autumn foliage seasons, the entire valley becomes colorful, making this a popular photography spot for capturing the bridge and gorge together.

Tips

Enter the Skyline from the Takayugonsen side to follow the course in order. The parking spaces at the bridge approach are limited, so arriving early in the morning is recommended. The bridge is often windy; be careful your hat doesn't blow away. The Skyline has periods of nighttime closures and winter closures, so check traffic conditions before departing.
