Though a small station on the JR Sanin Main Line, this is the gateway to Hokuei, the hometown of Gosho Aoyama, creator of Case Closed (Detective Conan), affectionately known by its nickname 'Conan Station.' The exterior walls and waiting room of the station building are completely covered with character illustrations, and a bronze statue of Conan greets visitors in front of the station. From here extends the approximately 1.4 km 'Conan Street' leading to the Gosho Aoyama Hometown Museum, where statues, monuments, and character-decorated manholes are scattered throughout, making the greatest appeal the ability to walk with a detective's spirit, wondering where the next character is. Begin your day by thoroughly examining every corner of the station building and taking commemorative photos.
Tips
Since train service is limited, check the return departure time in advance for peace of mind. If driving, it's recommended to use the free parking lot at the Gosho Aoyama Hometown Museum as your base and walk to the station along Conan Street. You'll be absorbed in hunting for statues and manholes, so allow extra time.
Best time to visit
Takes approximately 40 minutes. Early morning hours have fewer people, allowing you to calmly photograph the station building and statue.
