About this spot

Though it is a small station on the JR San'in Main Line, Yura Station (由良駅) is affectionately known by the nickname Conan Station, serving as the gateway to Hokuei Town (北栄町), hometown of Detective Conan creator Gosho Aoyama. The station's exterior walls and waiting room are covered floor to ceiling with character illustrations, and a bronze statue of Conan greets visitors out front. The roughly 1.4-kilometer Conan Street (コナン通り) leading from here to Gosho Aoyama Furusato Kan (青山剛昌ふるさと館) is dotted with statues, monuments, and manholes decorated with characters, and the biggest appeal is walking it like a detective, wondering who you will find where next. Start your day by taking your time exploring every corner of the station building and taking a commemorative photo.

Tips

Trains run infrequently, so it is reassuring to check your return time in advance. If you are driving, we recommend using the free parking lot at Gosho Aoyama Furusato Kan (青山剛昌ふるさと館) as your base and walking to the station and back along Conan Street (コナン通り). You may get absorbed in hunting for statues and manholes, so allow yourself plenty of time.

Best time to visit

About 40 minutes. Early morning has fewer people, so you can calmly photograph the station building and statues.
