A tourist facility perched on a bluff overlooking Tottori Sand Dunes, with a viewing terrace commanding views of both the dunes and the Japan Sea. The main attraction here is the scenic lift connecting the hilltop to the dune entrance—similar to ski lifts, the single-seat chairs gently carry you above the pine forest for a few minutes of exclusive enjoyment of the dunes' full panorama and the glimmering sea. After walking the dunes all day, viewing them from above provides a satisfying sense of completion to your journey. The facility also features a gift shop and restaurant, making it perfect for savoring Twentieth Century pear soft-serve ice cream while reflecting on your day's adventure.

Tips

Free parking available. The lift may close during high winds, so check the operational status for the day. Evening light, when shadows extend across the dune's ripple patterns, creates the most beautiful landscape views. Keep a firm grip on your belongings while on the lift.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour (lift ride approximately 5 minutes each way). In the evening, long shadows cast on the dune's ripple patterns create striking contrast.
