Watching the Sunset Sink into the Horizon from the Sandy Beach—The Perfect Finale to Your Journey
About this spot
A gently sloping, calm sandy beach stretching directly in front of Kirara Taki Roadside Station. Facing west, its sunset views are renowned, and the sight of the sun slowly sinking into the horizon, dyeing the sky and sea in shades of crimson, is considered one of the finest views in the Sanin region. During the day, the contrast between the white sand and the crystal-clear sea is refreshing, and a beach walk is invigorating. Summer brings swimmers. The convenience of parking at the roadside station and walking down to the beach adds to its appeal. After a full day of driving, there is no better place to sit down on the sand and reflect on your journey.
Tips
You can easily descend to the sandy beach from the roadside station parking lot. Since you'll be walking on sand, comfortable shoes or sandals are recommended. The sea breeze grows chilly after sunset, so bring a light jacket. Sunset times vary greatly by season—check the time beforehand to adjust your visit accordingly.
Best time to visit
1 to 2 hours. Starting about an hour before sunset, the sky's colors shift continuously, and the sight of the sun sinking into the horizon is spectacular.
