Located at the gate of Kushida Shrine, this facility conveys the life and culture of Hakata. The main townhouse building is a relocated and restored structure that originally served as both the residence and workshop of a Hakata textile weaver from the Meiji period. You can walk through and experience the traditional architecture firsthand, including the characteristic features of old townhouses such as the passage floor and interior courtyard. The facility's highlight is live demonstrations of the traditional craft of Hakata textile weaving, where you can observe up close the precise patterns created as warp threads are interlaced. The exhibition hall features displays relating to the Hakata Gion Yamakasa Festival and the Hakata dialect, offering insights into local festival culture and downtown life. The souvenir section also carries Hakata dolls and other traditional local crafts.
