A facility group that opens historic structures from the Meiji and Taisho periods along the former Nagasaki Highway in the Yanagi Town area. The dignified Old Koga Bank with its Western architecture, the Old Koga House conveying the lifestyle of a wealthy merchant, white-walled townhouses, and other distinctive buildings gather within a few minutes' walk and can be viewed free of charge. The street, retaining the vestige of a flourishing post town on the old Nagasaki Highway, is picturesque even just walking through it. The soaring hall of the Old Koga Bank also serves as a café, providing a pleasant opportunity to rest in a classical space. As a perfect conclusion to your day, leisurely savor the retro townscapes where time seems to have stopped.

Tips

Since the facility consists of several separate buildings, picking up a guide map at the first museum you visit makes navigation easier. Note that some buildings have closed days, so confirm opening days beforehand for peace of mind. Taking a break at the Old Koga Bank's café makes the walking fatigue pleasantly melt away.

Approximately 1 hour required. Afternoon when the western light softens brings out the charm of the Western buildings' window edges and townscapes even more deeply.
