About this spot

This natural park features colossal boulders exceeding 10 meters scattered across the mountainside overlooking the pristine waters of the Kase River. According to tradition, these massive stones have long been revered as sacred objects associated with Yodohime Shrine (與止日女神社), the principal shrine of Hizen. Each boulder has its own name and legendary tale, and you can explore them one by one along a walking trail. Every time a towering boulder comes into view between the trees, you'll be struck by its impressive scale. From vantage points where the vista opens up, you can also see the flow of the Kase River and the surrounding mountain landscape. A walk through the crisp morning air allows you to enjoy both forest bathing and hiking simultaneously—a mystical spot truly worthy of starting your day.

Tips

The walking trail winding around the boulders features steep mountain terrain, so sturdy trekking shoes with good grip are essential. Bring plenty of water. The ground can be slippery the day after rain, so choose a route that's comfortable for you.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour required. The clear, cool morning air provides the most comfortable conditions for viewing the boulder formations.
