A shrine dedicated to Kato Kiyomasa, the builder of Kumamoto Castle, located on the castle's north side. Affectionately known locally as "Seisho-ko San," Kiyomasa was not only a master castle builder but also established Higo's foundation through irrigation and land reclamation projects. Devotees continue to pay respects to his legacy. The shrine grounds offer an unparalleled vantage point capturing the main tower, auxiliary Uto Tower, and the magnificent Musha-Gaeshi stone walls in a single view. The classic photograph of the torii gate and castle walls is a must-have shot from any Kumamoto visit. After viewing the castle up close, seeing the complete panorama from here truly brings home the castle's grandeur and beauty. Both a spiritual visit and a photographer's treasure.
