Water Curtain Viewed from Behind the Falls and Dappled Sunlight
About this spot
A "behind-the-falls" waterfall where, over many years, water carved through layers created by the Aso pyroclastic flow, forming a large cavity behind the falls. Despite a drop of only about 10 meters, the width of approximately 20 meters makes the water fall softly and gracefully like a curtain across the entire width. Descend the walking trail to approach the pool, then venture further into the rocky overhang at the back. Light filtering through the water curtain creates an enchanting world swaying before your eyes. After becoming famous as the setting for a tea commercial, it has become Oguni's premier healing spot, where during new leaf season the entire forest gleams in green, and the refreshing mist feels wonderful.
Tips
Due to congestion-reduction measures, advance online reservation is required. Check the official reservation status before visiting for peace of mind. The area behind the falls is wet and slippery underfoot, so wear non-slip shoes. Since spray will reach you, bring a towel to wipe cameras and smartphones.

Approximately 1 hour. Morning hours when sunlight filters into the forest offer shimmering water curtains with relatively fewer crowds
