Forest Bath Surrounded by Dappled Sunlight and Rapids from Aso's Underground Spring Water

A gorge in the source region of the Kikuchi River, located at the northwestern base of the Aso outer rim mountains. Underground spring water that seeped into Aso over many years emerges here, flowing through a natural broad-leaved forest creating rapids, deep pools, and waterfalls. Along the footpath, noteworthy sights continue, including Reimei Falls and Shijusanman Falls, where moss-covered rocks, dappled sunlight, and the constant sound of rapids delight all five senses. Even in summer, the waterside remains refreshingly cool and is called nature's air conditioner. Bathing in abundant negative ions while enjoying a forest bath provides the most healing moments of this entire course.

Tips

The footpath has slippery sections with rocks and tree roots, so sturdy footwear is essential. Bring small change for the trail maintenance fee collected at the entrance. The waterside is cool even in midsummer, so bringing a light jacket is recommended. During cherry blossom and autumn foliage seasons, parking lots get crowded, so arriving early in the morning is advised.
