Yamaga lanterns are intricate three-dimensional sculptures created using only washi paper and adhesive—no wood or metal. The displays feature stunning gold lanterns that women wear on their heads during the lantern festival, alongside elaborate replicas of shrines, temples, and palatial buildings, all crafted by master artisans known as lantern makers. Upon close inspection, you'll be amazed to discover that even the finest columns are made of washi paper. The soft light shining through the paper evokes the festive spirit that has illuminated Yamaga's nights for generations.
