This confectionery has been crafting sweets in Taketa's castle town since the Edo period and is said to be the oldest in Oita Prefecture. The signature sweets are "Mikasano" (三笠野)—a fragrant baked shell filled with smooth red bean paste—and "Ruin Castle Moon" (荒城の月)—a delicate meringue shell enfolding egg-yolk paste. Named after the famous composition, these sweets are perfect to taste after touring Oka Castle Ruins and the Taki Rentaro Memorial Hall. The shop features an attached tearoom where you can enjoy a set of matcha tea and sweets for a relaxing break. Take time to savor the castle town's sweet moment amid the charming shop's character.
