Bite into the famous Nanja Kora Daifuku for a food-walk snack
About this spot
An established confectionery shop with its main store in central Miyazaki. The signature item is the large "Nanja Kora Daifuku," a daifuku filled with whole strawberry, chestnut, and cream cheese. According to legend, the name came from customers involuntarily exclaiming "Nanja Kora" ("What on earth!") upon taking a bite, and this surprising confection perfectly blends Japanese and Western ingredients into one daifuku. The shop also carries other Miyazaki specialties such as cheese-filled buns, making it perfect for souvenirs. After the aftertaste of your Chicken Nanban has settled, stop by for a snack break and enjoy this famous local sweet treat in the city center.
Tips
The Nanja Kora Daifuku is quite large and substantial, so sharing one between two people is also recommended. Since fresh confections have a short shelf life, if buying souvenirs, bring a cooler bag and plan to take them home the same day.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 45 minutes. This makes for a perfect post-lunch snack stop.
