This 3,540-meter ocean-spanning bridge connecting Miyakojima and Irabu Island holds the distinction of being Japan's longest free-to-cross bridge. As you drive, the landscape opens to reveal the Miyako Blue gradient, shifting from emerald to deep indigo on both sides. Tips
Parking and stopping are prohibited on the bridge itself; take photos from the parking areas at the base on either the Miyakojima or Irabu Island side. On windy days, exercise caution as crosswinds can affect steering. Crossing twice to enjoy the view from both directions is also recommended.
Best time to visit
Allow approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. The sea's gradient is most vivid in the late morning when the sun is higher.
