A Pure Land Buddhist temple located in Akatsuka, Itabashi Ward. The Amida Nyorai seated statue stands approximately 13 meters tall and is widely known as the "Tokyo Dabutsu." This great Buddha, erected in 1977, has such a commanding presence that it is sometimes counted among "Japan's Three Great Buddhas" alongside those in Kamakura and Nara. The verdant temple grounds have a calm atmosphere and are easily accessible on foot from Akatsuka Park. Standing before the Buddha, you'll find yourself forgetting you're in central Tokyo, and it makes for a wonderful change of pace before the fireworks festival. The temple grounds are also abundant with trees, making it a perfect place to rest in the shade.

いたばし花火大会は、板橋区の荒川河川敷・戸田橋付近を会場に毎年夏に開催される、地域を代表する花火大会です。広大な荒川の河川敷から遮るものなく見上げる空に、次々と大輪の花火が開く迫力は格別で、川面に映る光の揺らぎも見事です。河川敷の芝生にシートを敷いてのんびり観覧できるスタイルは、小さな子どもを連れたファミリーにもやさしい環境です。対岸の埼玉県戸田市側でも花火大会が同時開催されることが多く、両岸から花火が上がるスケール感も楽しみのひとつ。夏の夜空を彩る光と音のフィナーレを、家族でそろって楽しみましょう。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否は板橋区の公式発表を事前・当日ともに確認してください。終了後は最寄り駅やバス停が大変混雑します。終了後すぐに移動せず、河川敷で少し余韻を楽しんでから時間差で帰宅すると比較的スムーズです。帰り道は足元が暗い箇所もあるため、スマートフォンのライトを活用しましょう。

About a 5-minute walk from Akatsuka Park. Admission to the temple grounds is free. The statue looks most impressive when viewed head-on from below and is ideal for commemorative photos. Maintain a reverent atmosphere while paying your respects. It's reassuring to use the restroom here before your next move.
Best time to visit
Takes approximately 45 minutes. The afternoon light illuminates the Buddha's surface, and the bronze's texture is best visible during this time
