Stroll along the walking path by clear waters flowing from the Rokko Mountains and leisurely explore summer Ashiya

About this spot

Ashiyagawa River (芦屋川), which originates from the Rokko Mountains, is a clear stream that flows right beside Hankyu Ashiyagawa Station, and the walking path along the river is a favorite spot where locals enjoy strolling and weekend outings. Green trees line both banks of the river, and even in summer, you can walk in the shade and enjoy a cool atmosphere. Walking from the station toward the sea, you'll alternately see Ashiya's serene residential neighborhoods and river scenery, experiencing the refined and peaceful atmosphere characteristic of Ashiya. There are shallow areas where children can touch the water and play along the riverbank, making it a perfect warm-up before heading to afternoon attractions. The river flowing toward Osaka Bay, where tonight's fireworks will take place, is also one of the pleasures that ties together the story of the day.

Tips

Tips

Within walking distance from Hankyu Ashiyagawa Station, and about a 10-minute walk from Hanshin Ashiya Station. Admission is free. There is plenty of shade along the river, but remember to bring water as the sun is strong during afternoon hours. There are bakeries and light meal shops near the station, so having a light lunch before the stroll will help you move comfortably to the next spot.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour required. The time around midday when dappled sunlight sparkles on the river surface is particularly pleasant for walking.
