A symbol of Tatsuno City, the "Little Kyoto of Harima," this small yet distinguished castle sits on a low hill with a reconstructed white-plastered keep. From the main citadel, you can overlook the verdant plains of the Yibo River basin and the castle town's buildings—an excellent viewpoint to confirm the location of tonight's fireworks along the riverbed during daytime. The contrast between stone walls and white plaster is beautiful, and exhibits inside detail Ryoyo Domain's history. Its compact size allows even children to tour without strain.

揖保川河川敷(龍野地区)を会場に繰り広げられる、たつの市夏の風物詩です。約2,000発の花火が夜空に次々と開き、川面にも映り込む光の競演が見どころです。「播磨の小京都」の城下町を背景に打ち上がる花火は、河川敷ならではのロケーションで間近に楽しめます。川風とともに響く打ち上げ音が体に伝わり、夏の夜の記憶として深く刻まれる時間です。昼間に城跡から眺めた揖保川が、夜は光の舞台に変わる1日の締めくくりにふさわしいクライマックスです。

Tips

The entrance to Ryoyo Castle Ruins is beside the approach to Ryoyo Shrine, taking a few minutes on foot to reach the main citadel. A fee may apply to view inside the keep—check at the ticket office. On hot summer days, there are spots with little shade atop the hill, so bring a hat and water.
