The Katsushiba Fireworks Festival is one of Hokkaido's representative large-scale fireworks festivals. On August 13, 2026 (Thursday), from 7:20 PM to 9:00 PM, approximately 20,000 fireworks will be launched from the special venue on the Tokachigawa riverbed. Fireworks displayed against the vast Tokachi Plain sky offer an openness and power distinctly different from urban fireworks displays, with the shimmering reflections on the river's surface adding impressive visual appeal. Diverse presentations including music-coordinated starmine pyrotechnics and large-scale starmines keep the 1 hour 40-minute program engaging through to the finale. Savor the large blooms opening across Tokachi's night sky, accompanied by Hokkaido's summer evening breeze.

Always confirm the official Katsushiba Fireworks Festival announcement regarding cancellations due to inclement weather. After the show, roads to Obihiro Station become extremely congested, so it's recommended to enjoy the atmosphere on the riverbed for a while after the finale before leaving with a time delay. The ground is dark, so bring a small light and watch to keep children from getting separated.
