The Sawara townscape, also called "Little Edo," retains merchant house architecture from the Edo period through the Meiji and Taisho eras along the Ono River, and has been designated as a national district of important traditional wooden buildings. Walking along the stone-paved riverside, you'll see white-walled storehouses and lattice-windowed merchant houses evoking the atmosphere of Suigo. The Ono River also operates hand-poled sightseeing boats, offering a unique perspective of the townscape from the water. This precious area where you can touch the lingering spirit of the Edo period is perfect for a leisurely afternoon stroll before the evening fireworks.

開催時刻は例年夜間に設定されていますが、2026年の詳細は大会公式情報を事前に確認してください。荒天時の開催可否も公式発表で確認を。終了後は周辺道路や帰りの交通が混雑するため、時間に余裕を持った移動計画を。河畔は照明が少ない箇所があるのでライトを持参すると安心です。

About 5 minutes by car from Michi no Eki Mizu no Sato Sawara. Also reachable on foot in about 5 minutes from Sawara Station. Advance booking is recommended for Ono River boat cruises. Limited shade along the riverbank in places, so bring a parasol or hat. The fireworks venue in front of Omigawa Central Park is about 25 minutes away by car.
Best time to visit
Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes required. Between 3 and 5 PM the light slants beautifully, illuminating the white-walled buildings to their best advantage.
