Stroll along the promenade beside the yacht harbor and take family photos
About this spot
An artificial island created on the sea for the 1994 World Resort Expo, Wakayama Marina City is a representative resort area featuring a yacht harbor, theme park, seafood market, and hot springs all in one place. The marina is lined with white yachts and cruisers, and the waterfront promenade offers open and expansive views of Wakayama Bay and sky. The compact layout of the entire island makes it easy for everyone from small children to grandparents to walk around comfortably—a great benefit for three-generation outings. Before heading to Kuroshio Market or Porto Europe, enjoy a leisurely harbor stroll while feeling the sea breeze and capture family memories to gradually build up the resort atmosphere.
Tips
About 10 minutes by bus from JR Kainan Station; by car, about 10 minutes from the Kainan IC on the Hanwa Expressway, with large paid parking available on the island. The promenade is flat and easy to navigate with a baby carriage. The waterfront can be breezy, so bringing an extra layer is wise depending on the season. Strolling the harbor area in the morning before the market and park get busy helps the day flow smoothly.
Best time to visit
About 30 minutes required. Morning light is ideal for taking beautiful photos of the yacht harbor.
