Tips

Check Shingu City's official announcement for whether the event will go ahead in severe weather. Roads and parking lots in the area get very crowded afterward. If using JR Shingu Station (新宮駅), it's recommended to linger on the riverbed for a while to enjoy the afterglow before heading out at a staggered time. The ground underfoot is dark on the way back, so a small light is reassuring. Since the following day, August 14, is a time when many fireworks festivals are held in Wakayama Prefecture, check your transportation plans before and after in advance as well.

Timed to the 7:30–9:00 p.m. show. Secure your viewing spot 30 minutes before it starts, and choosing a position where you can see the water's surface lets you enjoy the reflections too
