日田川開き観光祭大花火大会は、毎年5月に三隈川周辺を舞台に開催される日田市を代表する祭りの花火です。2日間で約10,000発が打ち上げられる規模で、川面に映り込む「逆さ花火」が三隈川ならではの絶景を生み出します。日田市内一円を照らす大輪の花火は、山に囲まれた盆地地形の日田で音が反響し、体に響く迫力があります。5月の初夏の夜風の中、川のせせらぎとともに見上げる花火は、夏の大都市の花火大会とはひと味違う、清々しさと感動に満ちた体験です。1時間20分にわたる打ち上げのフィナーレで夜空が明るく染まる瞬間は、この1日のクライマックスです。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否は日田市・大会主催者の公式発表で確認してください。終了後は三隈川周辺から市街地への道が混雑します。花火終了後は川岸でしばらく余韻を楽しんでから、時間をずらして帰路につくのがおすすめです。JR日田駅へは徒歩圏内のエリアが多いですが、帰りの列車・バスの時刻は事前に調べておきましょう。

Located just a few minutes' walk from the Mikuma River riverbank. Entry to the grounds is free. From evening onward, the surrounding area becomes congested with fireworks spectators, so it's recommended to visit and pray leisurely during this time period.
