About this spot

Funai Shopping Street (府内商店街) spreading to the north of Oita Station is an arcade street long cherished by the community as the central commercial district of Oita City. Local restaurants, izakayas, cafes, and scattered shops serving local cuisine such as tori-ten (fried chicken), dango-jiru (dumpling soup), and ryukyu are found throughout. Having a meal here before heading to the fireworks venue allows comfortable viewing at the park. The shopping street in the evening is filled with the gentle bustle of locals and pre-festival energy. After eating, make a final stop at a nearby convenience store or shop to stock up on night beverages before heading to the venue.

Tips

About 5 minutes on foot from JR Oita Station. To avoid congestion, it's best to enter a restaurant by 5 PM. The convenience of nearby convenience stores and pharmacies for insect repellent and beverage restocking is also convenient. Since it takes about 15-20 minutes by car to Nanase River Nature Park, begin departure by 7 PM.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 15 minutes required. Finishing dinner 2 hours before the fireworks start allows comfortable relaxation at the venue.
