An ancient temple in the northwestern part of Nara City, said to have been founded by Gyoki (行基) in 736. This historic temple is dotted with important cultural properties within its grounds, including the Three-Story Pagoda (三重塔) built in the Nara period (a National Treasure) and a Tahoto pagoda (多宝塔). It is also known as "the temple of rose gardens." On the night of the fireworks festival, the grounds are set up with food stalls and special viewing areas, enveloped in a unique festival atmosphere. Take time before the show starts to walk around the grounds and secure a good viewing spot. The combination of the temple's nighttime ambiance and the fireworks is unique to this festival.

2026年8月22日(土)20時から、奈良市・霊山寺の境内を会場に開催される花火大会です。奈良時代創建の古刹を舞台にした花火大会は、寺院の伽藍や塔のシルエットを背景に大輪が開く幻想的な景色が楽しめます。境内に響く打ち上げ音は木々に包まれた独特の余韻があり、都市の大規模大会とは異なる、しっとりとした奈良らしい花火の夜です。寺社の境内という特別なロケーションで楽しむ夏の花火は、家族の夏の思い出として心に残るひとときになるでしょう。

Tips

開催可否や雨天時の対応は大会主催者の公式発表で必ず確認してください。境内は砂利や石畳のエリアがあるため、レジャーシートを敷ける場所を早めに確保するのがおすすめです。終了後は富雄駅行きのバス・タクシーが混み合うため、余韻を楽しんでから少し時間をずらして移動すると比較的スムーズです。帰路の近鉄の最終時刻も事前に調べておきましょう。

About 10 minutes by Nara Transportation Bus from Shio Station (富雄駅) on the Kintetsu Nara Line, or you can also take a taxi from Shim-Omiya Station (新大宮駅) or Gakuen-mae Station (学園前駅). On the day of the event, temporary buses and traffic restrictions may be in place, so check official festival information in advance. The grounds feature stone paving and steps, so move carefully and watch your footing.
