It's time to head early to the area around Shiiba Junior High School, tonight's fireworks venue, and secure your viewing spot. Shiiba Village is located in a basin-shaped geography surrounded on all sides by mountains of the Kyushu Mountain Range. As evening approaches, the mountain ridge lines are painted by the sunset, revealing a breathtaking view. Feel the passage of time as the mountains gradually turn to silhouettes while awaiting the fireworks start. If you spread out snacks and drinks you've gathered from the roadside station here, you can enjoy a leisurely time before the show begins. Part of the fun of this course is imagining how the surrounding mountains will echo the fireworks sounds as you wait.

Tips

Please confirm parking areas and accessible areas around the venue in advance via official festival information. Be sure to locate restrooms while there is still daylight. Bring a light jacket as temperatures drop after sunset in mountain valleys. Since cell phone reception is weak in some areas, download maps for offline access in advance.

Best time to visit

Allow approximately 1 hour 30 minutes. The color changes of the mountains at dusk are the highlight of this time.
