About this spot

This facility offers accessible exhibits on Nagai City's history and folklore, as well as the culture of river transport on the Mogami River (最上川). The Mogami River once flourished as a major artery for moving goods, and Nagai developed as an important relay point along it. Through the exhibits, you can get a real sense that the river and townscape you've walked through today are built on layers of history. Being able to cool off indoors on a hot summer afternoon is also a welcome point for families. There are also hands-on displays of farming tools and everyday items that children can find interesting, offering a close-up feel for the culture of daily life in Nagai.

Tips

Admission is around 200 yen for adults (please confirm in advance). Since it's air-conditioned, it's also ideal for resting a body tired from the outside heat. Check the closing time in advance before visiting. It's conveniently located along the way back toward Nagai Station.

About 1 hour. Recommended as a way to cool off while viewing the exhibits during the scorching afternoon
