The Yamanaka district lake shore is the main venue for tonight's Houko Festival fireworks. Upon evening arrival, spread out a leisure sheet at a suitable spot on the lake shore to secure your position. On the fireworks festival day, food stalls and vendor booths line the surrounding area, offering meals and light snacks made with local ingredients. As the sun sets, Mount Fuji's silhouette emerges above the lake, and the two hours as the sky transforms to deep indigo are just as memorable as the fireworks themselves. The lake shore grows colder as evening progresses into night, so time your transition to warmer clothing carefully.

山中湖の開湖を記念して毎年8月1日に開催される「報湖祭」は、山中湖の夏を代表する伝統行事です。湖上から打ち上げられる花火は、富士山を正面に望む湖畔から見ると、大輪が富士の稜線と重なるように夜空に開く唯一無二の光景を楽しめます。静かな湖面に映る逆さ花火の美しさも、湖上花火ならではの見どころです。標高約980mの山あいで鳴り響く打ち上げ音は体に響く迫力があり、周囲の山々に反響するこもった音が独特の臨場感を生み出します。涼しい夜風の中で、富士山と湖と花火が一体となる夏の夜のひとときをご家族でお楽しみください。
Tips
荒天時の開催可否は山中湖村の公式発表で必ず確認してください。終了後は会場周辺の道路と駐車場の出口が大変混雑します。フィナーレの余韻を湖畔でゆっくり楽しんでから、時間差で帰路につくのがおすすめです。富士急行バスや自家用車の帰り時刻は事前に調べておきましょう。足元は暗いため、帰路は必ずライトを使って安全に。
Tips
On fireworks festival day, roads to the Yamanaka district become very congested. If driving, secure a parking spot near the venue early or consider using shuttle buses. Restrooms around the venue tend to have long lines before the show starts; using them early is strongly recommended. Once dark, the lake shore becomes difficult to see underfoot, so have a light ready at hand.
Best time to visit
Approximately 2 hours required. The transition from sunset to starry sky and the shadow of Mount Fuji reflected in the lake surface are particularly beautiful during this time.
