About this spot

Yugou Onsen is counted as one of the "Mimasaka Three Hot Springs" along with Okutu Onsen and Yuhara Onsen, representing a premier hot spring destination in Mimasaka City. The spring has an ancient history, said to have been discovered by the Buddhist priest Jikaku Daishi. Along the hot spring street are inns and souvenir shops, and simply strolling through the area allows you to enjoy the calm atmosphere characteristic of a hot spring resort. Some facilities offer day-use bathing, so washing away the daytime sweat makes the evening fireworks viewing more comfortable. Being close to the festival venue as well, this area is perfect for starting your day.

About 15 minutes by car from Okayama International Circuit. You can use the parking lot in the hot spring town to explore. Day-use bathing reception times and fees vary by facility, so it's recommended to confirm in advance before visiting. Lunch at a local restaurant in the hot spring area is a good option.

Best time to visit

Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes required. The quiet hot spring town in daytime has few tourists, allowing for a leisurely walk.
